Listening to Ultha is comparable to standing in front of a marauding grizzly bear completely without any defense whatsoever: overpowering, hurting, and most likely lethal. Their hallmark blend of atmospheric black metal is among the most entrancing I have ever heard and should serve as an inspiration for other bands. Instead of just adding a layer of synth and calling it a day, Ultha goes the extra mile - they play with depth, exertion and your expectations, resulting in a transfixing voyage. David Fischer
Jordan Vauvert
Very late to the party, but for several years I've found melodic black metal all too similar and all albums sounding like Dissection, etc... HOWEVER, not only I am back into it but UADA is still a layer of complexity above the main baseline and this is an old album worth having, that's a basic milestone in UADA's discography and I felt it needed to be part of my BC collection. sachavonkarl74
Streamlining their post-metal sprawl through a sharper melodic focus, the Scottish juggernauts' third LP is labyrinthine yet approachable. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 25, 2024
Every release I listen to is going to be compared to the standard that this album sets.
This is 9 years of work compressed into 61 minutes of absolute glory and a proof of Wann's deep love for the genre.
Holy shit, what an album. Truly, what an album. Ultimhate
