Melodic, almost pagan black metal out of Iceland with some of the most aggressive vocals I've heard in the genre. It's balls to the walls from the first note with few respites, but its melodic enough to not overstay its welcome.

My absolutely favourite black metal album. Hardly a day goes by that I don't listen to it. The screaming of T. is so furious and destructive. The melodies of O. always cast a spell over me. And what grabs me the most is the drumming of J. which is extremely well mixed and really bangs. I hope there will be another album soon! It's hard to say which track is the best, but for me the album is a complete work of art!

Four incredible tracks, full of blackness, encapsulating the setting of the most infamous plagues from gloomy ages. So captivating, instantly! Spotless riffs and agonizing vocals, fastened by vicious and redundant, yet not at all mundane, drumming. In the last minutes of "Het Zwijn", the squealing sounds made by hundreds of pigs are highly unsettling but very fitted to the song's theme. The surreal cover art blends so well into this totally contagious atmosphere!

There is a disturbing turned-inside-out feeling to the music of Skáphe which I am addicted to. Though the voice sounded more inhuman on the debut, their music keeps its unreal shape.
